James  Whitton

James Louis Whitton, 65, of Manlius and Wellesley Island died unexpectedly Sunday at University Hospital with his wife and son by his side. Born in Utica, he was the son of the late James R. and Pauline (Grau) Whitton. He was also predeceased by his sister, Jeanne Whitton. He was graduated from Holland Patent High School and SUNY at Morrisville. Jim owned and operated Whitton Associates, a manufacturer’s representative agency for 26 years, representing such companies as Hub City (Regal-Beloit), Joyce Dayton and Fragola Industries. He previously owned and operated Whitton’s Sales and Service in Marcy, NY, marketing RV’s, snowmobiles and lawn equipment. He continuously earned awards in expanding and developing markets. Jim was an automobile enthusiast and his many activities and interests ranged from drag racing in the 1960’s to more recent collection and restoration of classic cars. An avid snowmobiler since the 1960’s Jim would frequently host tours in Canada for friends and business associates. Jim and his wife Connie celebrated their 25th Wedding Anniversary this year with a month long vacation in Florida. They led an active life of golf, motorcycle rides and loved boating on the St. Lawrence River from their summer home on Wellesley Island. Surviving are his wife, Connie Monteleone Whitton; daughter, Susan A. Whitton of Malta, NY; son, James P. (Sandra) Whitton, and grandchildren, Ethan and Ellen Whitton of Southwick, Mass.; his mother and father-in-law, Julia and Dodge Monteleone of Fayetteville; sisters-in-law, Midge Monteleone of Fayetteville and Carol (Joseph) Hamel and nephews Joey and Lucas Hamel and niece, Alyssa of Manlius; along with many friends, aunts, uncles and cousins. Funeral Services: 9:30 am Thursday at Immaculate Conception Church, Fayetteville. Calling hours will be 4:00 to 7:00 pm Wednesday at Eaton-Tubbs-Schepp Funeral Home, 7191 E.
